Content managment systems such as Joomla and Xoops are great, but can be a bit like using a slegehammer to crack a nut when all the client wants is a simple 5 page site, which can be edited occasionally.
The solution is our range of PHP templates. With these you can generate an entire site quickly and easily. The site is configured simply by editing one xml file, which can be done using any text editor such as Notepad, and which then generates the menu system, an animated Flash logo and an email contact form. Full instructions for doing this are included. Even if you know little or nothing of xml you should have little difficulty in setting up your site, though we can do this for you if you really have problems.
The page content can be edited either with a text editor or with an html editor such as Dreamweaver, just as with an HTML page. If the client wishes to edit the pages themselves this can be done with systems such as Contribute, again just as with HTML pages. You or your clients do not need to know any PHP at all.
The menu system is generated from a single xml file, with the result that you only need to edit one file if you decide to add an extra page - no need to go through every page editing the menu. If the viewer has Flash installed and javascript enabled they will see a Flash menu, otherwise an HTML menu. The menu system is search engine friendly as a noscript element will contain the links to each page.
The system requirements are minimal, simply a web server running PHP 4.3.0 or above. Because PHP is free and open-source, almost any hosting package which allows scripting should meet that requirment, including many free hosting packages. If in doubt you should check with your hosting provider, or search for php hosting online.
No database is required, and the pages require very little extra work from the server than an html page, with the result that the pages are very fast loading compared to most content management systems.
